About The Event

Codestars offer coding classes in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Python to high school students–ages 14 to 18–with developmental disabilities. Students create webpages games and applications which run on multiple platforms while learning fundamental programming concepts such as logic, sequencing, writing algorithms, and defining conditional statements. These principles are vital for obtaining job placement in tech industries and it is our goal at Codestars that each student master these aspects.

Students in HTML/CSS create responsive websites, simply put a web site that adjusts itself to display on any device screen size. In the JavaScript class, students learn how to add interactive elements to their HTML pages as well as create games such as "hangman" and "pong". In addition to web-based programming, students also learn how to code algorithms for machine learning tasks as well as develop GUI (graphic user interfaces or software development) using the Python language.
