GET A LYFT PROMO CODE!

TheCIL, the Oakland Mayor's Commission on Persons with Disabilities, and Lyft have partnered to distribute Lyft promo codes for qualifying individuals who need rides to their “walk-up” Covid-19 vaccination appointments. Qualifying individuals must be people with disabilities, veterans, or senior citizens living in Alameda or West Contra Costa counties. Individuals will need to have their vaccination appointment scheduled before receiving a promo code.  For questions about qualifications or to receive a code after making an appointment, contact us at (510) 841-4776 or info@thecil.org.

Lyft is an on-demand rideshare app. You can request a ride from Point A to Point B, like from your house to your vaccine appointment, through their app on your smartphone. If you do not have a smartphone, you can ask someone to schedule it for you.  Learn about Lyft's health and safety policy here: https://www.lyft.com/safety/coronavirus.

Important Note: Unfortunately, Lyft does not have wheelchair-accessible vehicles in the East Bay. All wheelchair-accessible Lyft vehicles must have trips originating from San Francisco. However, Lyft drivers, like taxi drivers, are required by the ADA and Lyft to provide rides for people with foldable wheelchairs and walkers and people with service dogs.. They are not required to assist you in transferring into the vehicles, but they are required by the ADA and Lyft to stow your foldable device for you in their trunk or back seat unless the driver is not physically able to do so. See more info from Lyft here: https://help.lyft.com/hc/e/articles/115012926827-Wheelchair-Policy.

We are working to change these terms and will update this page as more information comes. If you need wheelchair-accessible transportation to vaccination sites, go to our COVID-19 Resources page for more information.
