Ron LeGaux

Deputy Director of Finance

After college and a few years in retail banking, I decided to pursue an MBA with an emphasis in accounting. I enjoyed finance and problem-solving, so it was a good fit for me. I finished my MBA program in 2008 and then worked for several non-profits. I joined the CIL in 2017 as an accountant and grant manager. In 2020, I wanted to learn more about federal grants, so I studied for and obtained the Certified Grants Management Specialist designation awarded by the National Grant Management Association. I’m currently looking for the CPA exam and hope to complete all four parts in mid to late 2022.

How did you get involved with the Independent Living Movement?

I first learned about the Independent Living Movement when the CIL hired me to do accounting and grant management. It was my first introduction to the movement and working with such a diverse and talented team. The Ed Roberts Day awards we host are always fantastic to learn about the past, present, and future of independent living.

Fun Facts

  • I enjoy hanging out with my kids, my girlfriend, and my dog, Pepper. When I can, I enjoy swimming or stand-up paddleboarding.

  • I have a little reef aquarium where I have some nice coral and other sea critters growing. It’s my aquatic version of a zen garden.
